Using a large end grain maple butcher block as a canvas, Intersection features stripes of bloodwood and walnut weaving between cylinders of solid copper. The disks grow and shrink progressively, and the piece connotes both movement and time.
This cutting board is designed to be fully reversible, with a display/serve side on the top and a work side on the bottom. Finger grooves have been cut in the edges to make for easier pick-up and carrying. Feet can be installed on the bottom if you request them. There’s still enough surface area to chop on the bottom, even with feet installed. A juice groove can also be cut on the bottom, if desired.
Each piece of copper is slightly countersunk, with a veneer of clear resin covering it to lessen the chances of oxidation.
The board is large, at 17 ½” x 25” X 2”. The layout of the maple differs from our typical board for increased visual interest.
