I received a large maple end grain cutting board and a smaller one. The large one is very well finished, ready for use. While natural materials are expected to have variations, this one has about 15% of the pieces with a small dark circle, perhaps an old aborted limb. If I'd seen this in person I likely would have switched to a darker wood like cherry, which would better conceal these imperfections. Since labor costs due far exceed materials, I wonder why the assembler didn't simply reject this small pieces, which aren't very expensive in themselves. While I couldn't make a board to this quality, I have done a lot of woodwork in the past, and I likely would have rejected some of the segments that were chosen.
The reason for 3 stars is that I think in this price range, the value isn't great due to what I think was an oversight by the craftsperson. Next time I might buy a board I can see in person, or if ordering from this company, probably pick a darker wood like cherry or even walnut, and I recommend avoiding the maple, which I chose for its durability.
