The best way to care for a butcher block is with a combination of Cutting Board Oil and Board Butter. Chopping board oil penetrates deeply into wood fibers, and board butter is a great surface protectant that also gives the board a nice luster.
Each tin contains 8 oz of Pure Beeswax and USP Food Safe Mineral Oil in a resealable tub.

big wooden cutting board
Pretty standard wood wax/protectant/polishing product, might be a shade heavier on the wax than some products I’ve used in the past but it might also be that I’ve only used it once when my apartment was cold (so it could be the ambient temperature making it a little more solid). Neutral, slight beeswax smell… there are no ingredients you’d expect to go rancid. Pricing is consistent with similar products, and I like that I’ll be able to recycle the tin when I finally use it up.
I hesitated about moving to wooden cutting boards over concern about the additional maintenance but now I’m kind of obsessed with oiling and buttering them. Wax on, wax off!
It is a great finishing touch for my new cutting board.
I received my BOARDSMITH cutting board and was more than impressed with the quality and workmanship. It’s a beautiful addition to my collection of kitchen tools. I will care for it and hand it down to my daughter (who is already eyeing it!)
