As a small, family-owned business, we take pride in crafting each butcher block by hand.
Depending on the number of orders in the queue, it may take up to 2-3 weeks to make and ship your butcher block.

When your board has been completed and ready for shipping, you will receive a tracking number via email.
RETURN POLICY
All of our boards will be warrantied to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 60 days from the date of receipt. Anything past 60 days will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
All returns require prior authorization. Call 469-387-8581 for authorization. Authorized goods for return must be received within 14 days of authorization, in the original packaging, sent insured.
Damages which occur during return shipping will be the responsibility of the customer.
Defective Items
Defects are described as anything which will render the board as unusable such as cracks, splits, or warps. Natural coloration of the wood is not a defect. All defective items will be repaired, replaced or refunded. Defective items accepted for return will be shipped back to us at our expense. Return shipping to the customer will also be at our expense. Returned items must be in the original packaging, sent insured.
Repair, replacement or refund will be at our sole discretion.
Non-defective Items
All non-defective items that are accepted for return will be at our discretion. All non-defective items will be charged a 20% restocking fee. Returned items must be in the original packaging, sent insured. Original and return shipping costs of non-defective items will be the responsibility of the customer.
Customer Induced Damage
All items with customer induced damage will not be acceptable for returns.
Special Orders
Due to the customer specific nature of special orders, special order boards are not eligible for returns.
Freight Damages, Loss, or Theft
As of October, 2022, The Boardsmith is using allowing customers to purchase Route Shipping Insurance as a third party insurer on packages. In the event your shipment is lost, stolen (eg porch pirates), or damaged in transit, Route will replace your items. This insurance is entirely optional and The Boardsmith does not profit in any way from the service. If you elect NOT to get shipping insurance, and if your order is damaged, lost, or stolen while in transit, you are agreeing to assume liability for that loss or damage.
Historically, loss, theft, or damage occurs in approximately 1% of shipments. Incidents are normally far higher during the Christmas season than at other times of the year.

How to Use our Board Butter
- Thoroughly clean, sanitize, and dry the cutting surface of your board
- Using a soft cloth apply the butter and rub in
- Finish by buffing off any excess butter
I bought 2 - small and large. The large has non-slip feet that were not screwed in to the same spot so it wobbles. The small one was fine until one morning it wasn’t. At about the 3-week mark it became severely warped. Bowed in fact. I attempted to notify them but their email bounced back as server not found. No typo to explain it. Really thought this was a quality company but for both boards to be bad proves they are not.

I'm sure you'd agree that we can't solve problems until we are aware of them. My personal cell number is prominent on the website and on the paperwork with your board, as are our email addresses. Our email system (including the 'contact us' form) functions well and consistently. You took the time to figure out how to write a review, and then took the time to write it. If you want the issues solved, might be easier just to call me rather than dismissing us as a company. To save you the time of looking it up, my cell is 469-387-8581.
Your concern about the board feet is puzzling, so would love to discuss that with you. And if your sidekick has warped, then I'd be happy to talk through how to make it flat again and maintenance steps you can take to ensure it stays flat going forward. We take a lot of pride in what we make, but they do require care and maintenance.

I have asked several times and still never received the board butter. I was trying be nice and wait until I got it and actually used it to do a review, but MONTHS have went by and I've emailed you several times. Below is a pic of my hand absent of board butter.
Hi Kurt, we totally deserve that. we DID ship your board butter some time ago and USPS says it will be arriving today, but there's no excuse for your having to remind us to ship something. I've issued you a refund on the board butter.
I accidentally reviewed this when I meant to review my cutting board. This stuff is fine. You need it. Get it. But it's an accessory. Buy the board. Stop reading this review and just add this stuff to your cart after you've picked your cutting board. Enough time wasting. Go order a board.
I do love the cutting board I have purchased from Boardsmith recently. It is like a piece of artwork. I have to say It was quite an effort to obtain this cutting board from where I live..Canada. I have had it for two months already, but it seemed that I spent much more time to oil and butter the board than using it. This maple wood board is very easily stained by vegetable and fruit juices’ colors, I also don’t want to use it to cut raw meats. At the end of day I have noticed that I was just using some cheap cutting board than my new beautiful beloved maple wood board. I felt quite unjustified…
