Crafted with sustainably harvested Black Walnut. These boards have a deep chocolate color highlighted with black streaks and some lighter-colored sapwood. Some black walnut end grain cutting boards are fairly consistent in color, and others have high contrast between lighter and darker woods.
Of the three hardwoods we use, walnut arguably has the highest 'Wow!' factor. In terms of durability, the walnut end grain butcher block has the perfect balance of scratch resistance and gentleness on knife edges.
While we can't guarantee any particular look, you are welcome to request a preference in the 'comments' section and we will accommodate if we have one available. Some customers prefer it more uniform and others like high contrast.

Our standard black walnut end grain cutting boards are thick. Cutting board feet add an additional and are highly recommended unless the user is under in height.

There is no cutting board to match the quality and beauty of these walnut boards. I requested minimal variation and they were built to perfection. I just ordered 2 other boards from The Boardsmith and can’t wait. Your only concern will be finding the nerve to actually cut on them. They are just spectacular!

I received my board yesterday and have been applying your board oil followed by the board butter. It took a little while for the oil to soak in well, but the final result is a beautiful piece of art- It looks too good to use as a cutting board! As a woodworker, I must say I was more than impressed. I also appreciate the quick delivery and professional presentation in the packaging.
