Getting a Boardsmith board has truly been an above-and-beyond experience and I couldn’t be happier.
I took the plunge on the 18x24 maple Boardsmith board and it occupies a permanent place on the kitchen counter now (precious real estate in our case). It replaced a bamboo board with similar dimensions, with the goal of being easier on knife edges and looking good doing it. I was worried the board would be too big to clean in the sink (it is), but wiping it down on the counter and sanitizing with Boardsmith’s recommended vinegar/water mix is as easy or easier than scrubbing a board in the sink.
For engraving, I gave the Boardsmith folks a basic design of an improvised “restaurant logo” for our home kitchen. Emily at Boardsmith took what I had and ran with it, and the end-result engraving is so stunning and well-executed with the perfect level of detail. They were nice enough to also send the design files, so we can put our board engraving design on menus for dinner parties and such. We get lots of compliments on the board and I love getting to chop vegetables on it. Huge improvement over bamboo and it feels like it will last forever.
