Crafted with sustainably harvested Black Walnut. These boards have a deep chocolate color highlighted with black streaks and some lighter-colored sapwood. Some black walnut end grain cutting boards are fairly consistent in color, and others have high contrast between lighter and darker woods.

Of the three hardwoods we use, walnut arguably has the highest 'Wow!' factor. In terms of durability, the walnut end grain butcher block has the perfect balance of scratch resistance and gentleness on knife edges.

While we can't guarantee any particular look, you are welcome to request a preference in the 'comments' section and we will accommodate if we have one available. Some customers prefer it more uniform and others like high contrast.

Our standard black walnut end grain cutting boards are thick. Cutting board feet add an additional and are highly recommended unless the user is under in height.

I purchased two boards from the Boardsmith - a walnut end grain carolina cut and a maple side kick. I couldn’t be happier with my purchases. Both are gorgeously made, were built to my requested specs, and shipped with care. These boards are definitely an investment, but one I’d highly recommend for those who want to see the craft and care they take in the kitchen reflected in the production of the tools they use there.

It just arrived, a little early from their lead time too, and its absolutely gorgeous! Fits right in with my new kitchen and I cant wait to start using it. Probably as a display platter first haha
