Known for its lasting strength and durability, maple has long been the traditional wood used for cutting boards and butcher's blocks. We use sustainably harvested (certified FSC) premium-grade maple for these beautiful blonde colored end grain cutting boards.

Prior to shipping, each maple end grain butcher block is sanded smooth, given a soak in our pharmacy grade mineral oil tank for 30+ minutes, allowed to dry overnight, and then buffed with Cutting Board Butter.

Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

Average weights of each end grain butcher block/cutting board (after oiling) are:

12 X 18, 9-10 lbs
16 X 22, 18-19 lbs
18 X 24, 23-24 lbs

Our standard maple end grain cutting boards are 2" thick. Cutting board feet add an additional 3/4" and are highly recommended unless the user is under 5'3" (160cm) in height.

*Photos are for demonstration only. Yours will look unique due to the variations in natural wood.

All boards are made to order and take 2-3 weeks to fabricate.

Love It

I was specifically waiting at least a month after use to make a review. I've never used a wood cutting board before and was very nervous about the maintenance and care but it's been a breeze. The oil & wax actually protect it so much that when I cut dry veggies, I can just wipe it with a dry paper towel and not even wash it. It's beautiful and I'm glad I followed the reviews by getting the large size. Excited to cut my Thanksgiving turkey on it.

Functional Art

What can I possibly say about the boards I received from John and The Boardsmith? I ordered end-grain maple in both a Carolina and a Sidekick. These things came dripping with oil. So much so that the box was soaked. Took me about an hour to get the Carolina to stop sucking in more oil; the Sidekick was much faster.

Once they got a coat of Board Butter, they looked and felt amazing. So much so that it took me about four days before I could bring myself to even use one to cut! The Sidekick is perfect for small stuff like snacks or quick veggie cuts. The Carolina is a beast. I cut larger quantities of veggies on there, and it is well suited for the task. When it came to washing, the Board Butter made the water just bead up.

At some point I am sure that I will be much harder on these boards. But for now, they are just too easy on the eyes!

BTW, the 'other' board under mine is from another manufacturer. Was left with the house. Boardsmith is by far superior!

Blown away

I had a local custom made similar board for years that my wife ruined and I decided to try boardsmith. I thought the old one was top shelf, and this blows it away. Customer support was extremely helpful too. 10/10

Amazing Board

Quality craftsmanship, quick turnaround for a made-to-order item, and the XL is so fun to work on. Can’t recommend enough, worth every penny.
