Maple End Grain Cutting Board

Item arrived damaged with a crack in the board. Return experience was unsatisfactory. Would not recommend.

I ordered this as a surprise Christmas present for my foodie husband. To say he was surprised is an understatement. We were blown away with the quality of both the maple cutting board (Carolina Cut size) and sidekick we received. The craftsmanship is beyond what I would ever imagine! The detail in how the wood grain is used throughout the board, the wood quality, the smoothness of the connection, just everything. I chose to add feet and a bottom groove for flexibility in use. Very even and stable on the countertop. I can't say enough how great this looks in person. Definitely something to pass down in the family.

Be sure to follow their instructions on maintenance. The board needs oil and extra love and care at the beginning in particular. I recommend you order their oil and board butter-great quality and makes it very convenience to have it ready right when the board arrives.

Again, just BUY the thing if you are on the fence. Everyone who comes in our home and looks at this piece of useable art is just floored. And to support a smaller business with 8 employees rather than a mass-produced company product also feels great. Worth the wait. Great work Boardsmith!

Be warned, if you buy one of these, that the initial oiling is a bit of a chore, and the board will consume a lot more oil than you probably think it will! I laughed when I read that mine would drink up nearly 16 ounces of mineral oil, but it's going to take that and probably a bit more.

These reviews are long overdue. I purchased my first maple boardsmith board in 2010 when I redid my kitchen. I had the pleasure of dealing with Dave Smith personally and he was so kind and responsive to my questions and eager to share his knowledge and love of woodworking with me. I was a fan from that day on. When my sister redid her kitchen a few years later, I purchased a maple boardsmith board for her new kitchen in Virginia. Years after that, when my daughter moved into her new apartment I “gifted” her my original board to rationalize my purchasing a walnut “frankenboard” that I had been coveting. Another new maple board then followed for me, so I could have 2 for myself. Greedy! Flash forward to this Christmas and I sent a maple board to my son in Montana for his first apartment. These boards are never off the counter in any of their homes. They are beautiful, functional workhorses that are the envy of everyone who sees them. With loving care they will last a lifetime! They are worth every penny. Thank you from a very happy and devoted customer of 15 years!!

We gave this cutting board to our grandson for Christmas. He loves it, the quality and craftsmanship is evident from the time you open the box. The attention to detail, even the packaging is fantastic. Will be buying one for ourselves.
