Our new edge-grain cutting boards are an affordable, lower-maintenance alternative to our end-grain boards. Each reversible 14” x 20” x 1 1/2” edge grain cutting board features a 12” ruler laser etched along the top edge and handy finger grooves.
If you order the long grain cutting board with a perimeter groove, it will be cut on the bottom side since the top has a ruler engraved. If you order with both cutting board feet AND a perimeter groove, the groove will bump out at each corner, circumnavigating the installed feet.

Mineral oil and board butter. It’s annoying to get a new product only to find out you have to go to the store and buy stuff and work it in before you use it. Or maybe do that in the factory before you send them.
Hi Dimitrios, we do oil and board butter the board before we ship it. But just like a car, wood cutting boards require ongoing oil periodically to operate effectively. They don't require a lot of effort, just a little ongoing TLC and you should have a cutting board that lasts a long, long time. -john

I got this edge grain board so that I could have something with less weight that is between the Carolina Cut and Butcher size boards. I generally prefer end grain, but there is nothing wrong with edge grain and this edge grain board is the same high quality and beauty as the end grain boards. The laser etched ruler is a very useful feature that I appreciate. I have a Boos Block 10" x 16" maple edge grain board, and the Boardsmith edge grain board is better than the Boos Block in every way.
I also have a 16" x 22" Carolina Cut walnut end grain board and a 12" x 18" Butcher brick pattern end grain board. The 12" x 18" Butcher size is the perfect size for most everyday cooking in my small apartment kitchen. The Carolina Cut and edge grain boards are great, but I only use them when I am preparing a larger amount of food, so they don't get used as much. If I had a larger kitchen with more counterspace, the Carolina Cut board would probably live permanently on the countertop and get much more use. I love all of my Boardsmith cutting boards. The quality of the craftsmanship and materials is supreme, and using these boards brings great joy to my time in the kitchen. I will be proud to use and display my boards for the rest of my life.
