Known for its lasting strength and durability, maple has long been the traditional wood used for cutting boards and butcher's blocks. We use sustainably harvested (certified FSC) premium-grade maple for these beautiful blonde colored end grain cutting boards.

Prior to shipping, each maple end grain butcher block is sanded smooth, given a soak in our pharmacy grade mineral oil tank for 30+ minutes, allowed to dry overnight, and then buffed with Cutting Board Butter.

Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

Average weights of each end grain butcher block/cutting board (after oiling) are:

12 X 18, 9-10 lbs
16 X 22, 18-19 lbs
18 X 24, 23-24 lbs

Our standard maple end grain cutting boards are 2" thick. Cutting board feet add an additional 3/4" and are highly recommended unless the user is under 5'3" (160cm) in height.

*Photos are for demonstration only. Yours will look unique due to the variations in natural wood.

All boards are made to order and take 7-8 weeks to fabricate.

When you get the board, let it rest a day. Don't use it. Rub it with mineral oil and then board butter. Let it rest a day, again. Rubt it with mineral oil and then board butter. You are building the foundation, don't rush it. Keep the water away.

Beyond Expectations

I never leave reviews, but I have been geeking out on this board since I got it. This board is masterfully designed and crafted. It is *solid*, takes oil very well, and snaps back to its glassy-smooth sheen after cutting and cleaning. The end-grain design is noticeably less rough on my knives, and the wood texture is just about perfect for working bread and pasta dough. All of this, plus, it is beautiful. I never expect wood products to look as good as the product pictures, but Boardsmith *delivered*! The grain pattern demonstrated very thoughtful assembly. The alignment and "flushness" of the pieces looks like the most precision masonry you've ever seen. This is a buy-it-for-life product that I intend to take great care of.

Beautiful

I bought three cutting boards from The Boardsmith. They're all beautiful. Work of art level beautiful. The best cutting boards I've ever used, too.

Functional Beauty

I’m beyond impressed with this cutting board! The quality is immediately noticeable—solid, durable, and clearly made with care. It holds up beautifully to daily use without warping or showing knife marks, and the craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. The grain and finish make it a functional piece of art in my kitchen. It’s both a workhorse and a showpiece. Highly recommend if you want something that performs well and looks amazing on your counter!

Excellent board

This board is solid, durable and looks great. Cutting on this board feels extremely smooth, unlike the bamboo board I was using before.
