We carefully join solid hardwood using a professional-grade, waterproof adhesive that is FDA-approved for indirect food contact (an extra step many makers skip because it is 3 times the cost of cheaper glues). Thanks to the precision of our joinery and the unusually large solid wood blocks we use; your knife almost exclusively contacts wood when you chop. We did the math, and the total amount of glue your knife could encounter (on both faces of the board) is roughly equivalent to the size of a single grain of table salt.
We finish every board by hand with food-safe oil and Board Butter—because real craftsmanship means choosing quality, proven, and safe materials and doing things the right way, not the fast way.

I purchased a 16x22 Walnut End Grain Cutting Board along with the Sidekick Board. They both exhibit true craftsmanship and are a beautiful addition to our kitchen. While somewhat expensive, I'm comfortable it was money well-spent as they should last for many years to come. I'd buy one again without hesitation!

A work of art
This is my second Boardsmith cutting board. I love the craftsmanship that went into placing the cherry blocks in a beautiful pattern so that the woodgrains balance each other nicely on opposites sides of the board. It is a real work of art. The sidekick board is the perfect size for smaller jobs. I added the feet for better traction on my countertop and because the feet add just enough height to the board to make it easier to transfer chopped items to another container.

As I write this I cringe at my past cutting board ignorance. I had previously used plastic ones and have undoubtedly consumed a few pounds of plastic over the years. Luckily I am still alive to write this and thank you for making this beautiful work of art. My kitchen is small so I bought the sidekick but it’s perfect for all my cutting needs. It’s a dream to cut on and look at! I googled best cutting boards and luckily found your company..i can’t wait to buy a bigger size in the future when i get some more counter space. I have never been so excited about a cutting board before but now I really look forward to cutting and it just feels so fancy, and fun!!!!

Sidekick walnut end grain cutting board
I researched a few different companies before buying a very nice cutting board. I didn’t find anything that caught my attention. I asked chat GPT about other companies and it recommended Boardsmith. As soon as I went to the website I knew I wanted the sidekick walnut end grain board. I’m very pleased with my purchase!!! The board is darker than the picture online and I love that. Each board will be a little different. Whoever made my board I can tell they took time to pick out high quality wood. In the future I might buy the bigger cutting board. You can definitely see the quality in the finished product. Will definitely buy from again!
