Cherry is the softest of the woods we use and is reported by customers as the easiest on high-quality knife edges. Our boards are crafted with sustainably harvested wood from Northwest Pennsylvania. These cherry wood end grain cutting boards have a rich brown-red color that will darken beautifully with age.

Cherry tends to have much more variation in the wood grain, with mineral spots and streaks, small pips, etc. No two are alike. Aesthetically, the wood works best in a traditional-style kitchen.

Prior to shipping, each cherry end grain butcher block is sanded smooth, given a soak in our pharmacy-grade mineral oil tank for 30+ minutes, allowed to dry overnight, and then buffed with Boardsmith Cutting Board Butter.

Our standard butcher blocks are 2" thick. Feet add an additional 3/4" and are highly recommended unless the user is under 5'3" (160cm) in height.

Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

Cherry End Grain 18x12 Cutting Board

Love the color and the quality. I was not planning to do heavy chopping so I kept the feet and use it as a server piece. This color goes well with a family heirloom large cherrywood dining table that my Grandfather made as a wedding gift for my mother in 1945.

Experience joy

This is my second Boardsmith. My first is a walnut sidekick that is too beautiful to use. After that one I rationalized if I had my mass market maple board sanded and I oiled it, it would be good enough.

Of course, it wasn’t. Did I unconsciously sabotage it to justify buying another Boardsmith board? Maybe but not important. What matters is the way my knives glide across the cherry. How effortlessly it cleans up. Its sharp but solid sound when I set my knife down. I’m delighted with it and while beautiful, it’s getting a lot of use. Great tools are a joy to use and this is a great tool.
