Crafted with sustainably harvested Black Walnut. These boards have a deep chocolate color highlighted with black streaks and some lighter-colored sapwood. Some black walnut end grain cutting boards are fairly consistent in color, and others have high contrast between lighter and darker woods.
Of the three hardwoods we use, walnut arguably has the highest 'Wow!' factor. In terms of durability, the walnut end grain butcher block has the perfect balance of scratch resistance and gentleness on knife edges.
While we can't guarantee any particular look, you are welcome to request a preference in the 'comments' section and we will accommodate if we have one available. Some customers prefer it more uniform and others like high contrast.
Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

Our standard black walnut end grain cutting boards are thick. Cutting board feet add an additional and are highly recommended unless the user is under in height.
*Photos are for demonstration only. Yours will look unique due to the variations in natural wood.
All boards are made to order and take 2-3 weeks to fabricate.
Walnut Sidekick, Butcher, and Carolina. All excellent in terms of delivery condition, quality of workmanship, and performance. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

No more backache
The board is obviously beautiful and I would reiterate its heirloom quality with out hesitation. But the best part is that my 6-foot husband no longer has a backache when he works in the kitchen with me on our standard 36” high counters. I haven’t measured but I would guess it raises the counter for him by a solid 3”. Thanks Boardsmith!
In addition, I would recommend the care kit. I used the mineral oil and board butter as directed the first few weeks and not I have the softest hands in the land.
