Cherry End Grain Cutting Board

Regular price $200.00

Feet are installed on your board to provide stability and air circulation. We strongly encourage this, and most of our customers agree.

Use

  • Your board will arrive already seasoned and ready for use. We use a pharmacy grade, food safe mineral oil, followed by beeswax, for water resistance and protection.
  • End Grain cutting boards are more scratch-resistant and easier on knives than other boards, but still avoid using serrated knives

Care

  • Hand-wash with hot, soapy water. Always dry thoroughly.
  • Never soak or submerge board in water, or place in the dishwasher.
  • To help maintain water repellency, apply our Board Butter (or a combination of heated mineral oil and beeswax) to the cutting surface periodically. First clean and sanitize the board, then apply paste with a soft cloth. Rub into the surface and wipe off any excess.

MADE-TO-ORDER - please allow 2-3 weeks before shipping

Depending on the number of orders in the queue, it may take up to 2-3 weeks to make and ship your butcher block.

If you need your order in time for a birthday, anniversary, etc., please don’t hesitate to reach out at john@theboardsmith.com and we'll see what we can do.

Otherwise, we look forward to shipping this out to you once it is ready!

Defective Items

Defects are described as anything which will render the board as unusable such as cracks, splits, or warps. Natural coloration of the wood is not a defect. All defective items will be repaired, replaced or refunded. Defective items accepted for return will be shipped back to us at our expense. Return shipping to the customer will also be at our expense. Returned items must be in the original packaging, sent insured.

Repair, replacement or refund will be at our sole discretion.

Returned items must be in the original packaging, sent insured. Original and return shipping costs of non-defective items will be the responsibility of the customer.

Customer Induced Damage

All items with customer induced damage will not be acceptable for returns.

Special Orders

Due to the customer specific nature of special orders, special order boards are not eligible for returns.

Freight Damages, Loss, or Theft

As of October, 2022, The Boardsmith is using allowing customers to purchase Route Shipping Insurance as a third party insurer on packages. In the event your shipment is lost, stolen (eg porch pirates), or damaged in transit, Route will replace your items. This insurance is entirely optional and The Boardsmith does not profit in any way from the service. If you elect NOT to get shipping insurance, and if your order is damaged, lost, or stolen while in transit, you are agreeing to assume liability for that loss or damage.

Historically, loss, theft, or damage occurs in approximately 1% of shipments. Incidents are normally far higher during the Christmas season than at other times of the year.

Cherry is the softest of the woods we use and is reported by customers as the easiest on high quality knife edges. Our boards are crafted with sustainably harvested Cherry wood from Northwest Pennsylvania. These boards have a rich brown red color that will darken beautifully with age.

Cherry tends to have much more variation in the wood grain, with mineral spots and streaks, small pips, etc. No two are alike. Aesthetically, the wood works best in a traditional-style kitchen.

Prior to shipping, each butcher block is sanded smooth, given a soak in our pharmacy grade mineral oil tank for 30+ minutes, allowed to dry overnight, and then buffed with Boardsmith Board Butter.

Note: prices on cherry lumber have been relatively steady in 2021-2022, rising only 25% or so during that period. As a result, we don't expect major price increases on our cherry butcher blocks.

Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

*Photos are for demonstration only. Yours will look unique due to the variations in natural wood

Cherry cutting board

We've loved the cutting board so far! The grain patterns match up beautifully across the block, and it looks way better than our previous board

Love my new board!

I ordered the end-grain, cherry wood, Butcher block size. I am enjoying the feel of cutting on this board and my knife just glides over it with ease. I like that it is elevated and keep it on my counter because it’s so beautiful. This size perfect and it fits well in my kitchen. I highly recommend this board and plan to buy one for my daughter.

Communicative, Fast, Sturdy

The team at The Boardsmith informed that I wouldn’t get my board before Christmas. I get an email a couple weeks later stating they’re working on it and will ship it a few day before Christmas. It arrived in time for the holiday and it showed up in great condition. It’s sturdy and is well oiled. I was very satisfied with not only the communication by them, but also the quality of the product.
