Why is this one on sale? The best explanation is that "it's a bit wonky". The grain pattern gives it a look of being out of alignment and then rows themselves aren't perfectly straight. Otherwise it's a perfect board!

Most maple has mineral marks within the wood. It is how the tree goes with its unique idiosyncrasies. Since Maple is a lighter wood, those mineral streaks are very visible. These marks can't totally be avoided. In this case, the board has just a couple of spots.
Maple cutting boards need a lot of oil, so please don't forget to add a care kit! All cutting boards need to be oiled to full saturation, but especially maple!
