This pretty board has just a couple small issues. The Juice Groove was cut too close to the left and right edges so that it isn't spaced correcctly on the board.
It also has a couple of small wind checks. A wind check is an internal fracture or separation that runs along the tree's annual growth rings, caused by severe wind stress on a living tree. They are characteristic because the checking is perfectly perpendicular to the annulary rays in the wood grain. Those checks exist at a microscopic level throughout all hard maple, but sometimes become visible. They will not affect the function or safety of the board.
This board already comes equipped with a Juice Groove. Finger Grooves and/or engraving are also available for a small fee.
Feet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.
Most maple has mineral marks within the wood. It is how the tree goes with its unique idiosyncrasies. Since Maple is a lighter wood, those mineral streaks are very visible. These marks can't totally be avoided. In this case, the board is very "clean", meaning few mineral marks are visible.
Maple cutting boards need a lot of oil, so please don't forget to add a care kit! All cutting boards need to be oiled to full saturation, but especially maple!
