Occasionally we have a pretty board that has a few more voids or mineral streaks than we'd like to see on what we consider our premium boards. As we know from Wisdom Behind the Wood, almost all Maple has mineral streaks. It is the nature of Maple. We try to minimize them when we can, but they don't affect quality, form or function. But we give them a little discount because they might not match everyone's personal aesthetic preference.
Walnut doesn't really get mineral marks, but the grain is so muddled, that we felt it needed a discount.
It's also a couple inches smaller than our normal 18 x 12 Butcher Block.
Feet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.
