Because we use solid wood for our cutting boards, we have to work around imperfections as much as possible. We do our best, but it isn't always possible to completely avoid mineral streaks, small voids and other wood idiosyncrasies. To dismiss a board that has just a few of these imperfections would be incredibly wasteful and not in line with our value to be as sustainable as we can. In this case, there aren't mineral streaks inherent to most Maple. Rather this board has a larger void (or voids) that was filled with wood filler. There is nothing structurally wrong with it, but we aim to sell boards with a minimum amount of streaking or voids at the premium price.

In this case there is a larger filled void on the bottom of the board.

Feet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.

You can also order finger grooves, a juice groove and/or engraving at checkout.

Most maple has mineral marks within the wood. It is how the tree goes with its unique idiosyncrasies. Since Maple is a lighter wood, those mineral streaks are very visible. These marks can't totally be avoided. In this case, the board has just a couple lighter streaks in addition to the filled void on the bottom.

Maple cutting boards need a lot of oil, so please don't forget to add a care kit! All cutting boards need to be oiled to full saturation, but especially maple!
