Occasionally we have a pretty board that has a few more voids or mineral streaks than we'd like to see on what we consider our premium boards. As we know from Wisdom Behind the Wood, almost all Maple has mineral streaks. It is the nature of Maple. We try to minimize them when we can, but they don't affect quality, form or function. But we give them a little discount because they might not match everyone's personal aesthetic preference.
Technically Walnut doesn't have mineral marks. But sometimes the aesthetic doesn't match all preferences. This grain is a little muddled so we felt like it deserved a small discount.
