Occasionally we make cutting boards that we call "Frankenboards"

Frankenboard: When making butcher block, the first step is to glue up a large panel. We then cross-cut strips from that panel, turning them on end in sequence and gluing those together to form the final butcher block. We often have extra strips from any given panel. When we have a butcher block formed from strips from more than a single panel, that's a "Frankenboard". Nothing wrong with it, it's just that the look of the grain pattern from one row to the next doesn't necessarily flow seamlessly.

The reason this is a Frankenboard is because the top strip is different than the rest.

Feet will NOT come standard on this board, but if you order a set we will be happy to install them for you.

This board already comes equipped with Finger Grooves. A Juice Groove and/or engraving are also available for a small fee.

Most maple has mineral marks within the wood. It is how the tree goes with its unique idiosyncrasies. Since Maple is a lighter wood, those mineral streaks are very visible. These marks can't totally be avoided. In this case, the board has just a few small marks.

Maple cutting boards need a lot of oil, so please don't forget to add a care kit! All cutting boards need to be oiled to full saturation, but especially maple!
