Freight Damages, Loss, or Theft

NEW: As of November 20, 2023, The Boardsmith is paying for Route Shipping Insurance on your behalf on all orders, including international ones. Route is a third-party insurer on packages. In the event your shipment is lost, stolen (eg porch pirates), or damaged in transit, Route will replace your items at no charge to you. You will contact them directly and they will process your re-order. They also offer additional package tracking services via app.

Historically, loss, theft, or damage occurs in less than 1% of shipments. Incidents are normally far higher during the Christmas season than at other times of the year.

International Shipments

Different countries have widely divergent policies regarding taxes, tariffs, VAT, etc. on items shipped from the United States. Customers are responsible for any such fees, if applicable.

Thousands of small pieces of high-quality Walnut are meticulously combined to craft these one-of-a-kind inlay cutting boardsThese are a labor of love; the value of the hardwood used in a typical 18" X 24" walnut mosaic block approaches $400... before any work even starts.

Be sure to order your inlay end grain cutting board well in advance, as these are labor-intensive and made-to-order. Allow 4-6 weeks or more prior to shipping. As you can imagine, these require many, many glue-ups over a long period of time.

The photo gallery shows our traditional mosaic butcher block. We can also do them in a rectilinear style, where all the blocks are small rectangles and squares. The last image in the gallery is rectilinear, and you can see additional examples of those on our Instagram and Facebook pages. You can request your preference in the 'notes' section at checkout.

Based on the method of construction, dimensions on these are approximate.

** NOTE: Each mosaic cutting board takes 12+ glue-ups with dry time in between. Please expect around a 6 week lead time. Mosaic boards ordered today will not ship time for Christmas.

Built to be beautiful. Built to last.

Such a nice board

I've been using this daily for a month for all sorts of kitchen tasks. I've made bread, pizzas, cut lots of veggies, flattened chicken breasts, etc. I got a Carolina Cut and the size is perfect. It looks just like the photos (actually, better). It's absolutely gorgeous. The quality and craftsmanship are amazing. I love the height of the board with the feet. I skipped the juice groove, but got the hand grooves. I hesitated to spend this much $ on the mosaic, but it was totally worth it. I love seeing this thing on the counter every day. 🥰 Thank you!

Beautiful cutting board

Well worth the wait. The craftsmanship and quality is great! I'm not a great woodworker myself, but every little piece appears to sit perfectly flush against its surrounding pieces, the effect it creates and attention to detail to create this board is awesome. Just as described and pictured. If you like what you see in the pictures, you won't be disappointed. It looks even cooler in person.
