Known for its lasting strength and durability, maple has long been the traditional wood used for cutting boards and butcher's blocks. We use sustainably harvested (certified FSC) premium-grade maple for these beautiful blonde colored end grain cutting boards.

Prior to shipping, each maple end grain butcher block is sanded smooth, given a soak in our pharmacy grade mineral oil tank for 30+ minutes, allowed to dry overnight, and then buffed with Cutting Board Butter.

Average weights of each end grain butcher block/cutting board (after oiling) are:

12 X 18, 9-10 lbs
16 X 22, 18-19 lbs
18 X 24, 23-24 lbs

Our standard maple end grain cutting boards are 2" thick. Cutting board feet add an additional 3/4" and are highly recommended unless the user is under 5'3" (160cm) in height.

Looks nice but functions less than expected.

Was impressed with the construction, but has not functioned as expected. I’ve oiled and waxed it as recommended, but after a couple of uses I was disappointed to see knife marks. After what I paid for it, would have expected better performance.

Quicker Picker Upper

Excellent packaging, no problems with delivery. Like others have said, almost too beautiful to cut on. Arrived well lubed; lubed as recommended at week 1. No problems. Lubed at week 2. Amazing! Like the Bounty commercial, the wood sucked up the oil faster than I could get it completely spread! Sucked it up like the Quicker Picker Upper! Your instruction sheet re: lube, etc. is VERY vital to breaking in the board the correct way. Replaced a 30 y.o. Boos (not end cut). Whole different ball game. Y'all are true craftsmen/women. Thanks for another work of art, a work horse that I'll be riding hard...but, rest assured, like a knife and the horse, it won't be put away wet....nor bone dry!

Carolina Cut Maple End Grain

This board is more beautiful and functional than the web pictures suggest. Following the care instructions it just gets better and better. Sturdy, spacious, stable, easy to clean, great to cut on. Already been used for everything from veggies & fruits to meats and cheeses. Cleans up very well and doesn’t hold odors. Truly great by every measure!
