The third in our limited series of figured cherry wood trays, Clairvoyance is a whimsical exploration of what can be seen and what remains hidden. A solid river of aluminum-hued epoxy is interrupted by a single translucent section, created by two parallel curved pieces of solid bloodwood. When viewed from above, the center section adopts the colors of whatever is beneath it. The wood grain in the cherry flows oppositionally, with the bottom section ‘moving’ to the left and the upper section ‘flowing’ to the right.
At 18” X 24” X 1 1/8” thick, this makes for a gorgeous serving board, with plenty of real estate for a number of appetizers. Finger grooves will facilitate picking up the board. Feet can be installed on request.
This cherry wood tray was built from a single slab of black cherry and has been finished with food grade mineral oil and board butter. The epoxy in the center is food-safe. Epoxy is softer than hardwoods and will get knife marks if used as an actual cutting board. We’d recommend using this for display and serving rather than as a daily driver. The bottom of the board has clear epoxy, and has an interesting aesthetic on its own. The board is fully reversible.
